The Second Circuit affirmed the judgment of the district court in a Lanham Act case involving a TV commercial and a print advertisement. Our lead article, "Lanham Act Case Involved TV Commercial and Print Ad," examines this recent Second Circuit case.

FTC, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other law enforcement agencies are stepping up their war against alleged Internet scams for supplements and other products that purport to cure cancer, HIV/AIDS and many other life-threatening diseases. Our next article, "Enforcers Wage New Battle in Ongoing War Against Internet Health Fraud," looks at this recent development.

On June 5, 2001, Timothy J. Muris was sworn in as FTC Chairman. Muris, with the concurrence of his fellow Commissioners, has now named a senior staff team with extensive experience in the private sector, in academia, and at FTC. Our next article, "FTC Chairman Muris Names Senior Staff," looks at this recent action.

FTC Chairman Muris recently addressed the American Antitrust Institute. That address contains some indications of the direction of FTC under the new FTC Chairman. Our next article, "Muris Speech Hints at New Direction of FTC," examines this recent speech.

Our "Washington Roundup" article examines the latest ad compliance actions of the Federal Trade Commission.

FTC has filed suit in U.S. District Court against an Internet operation that, according to FTC, allegedly "conned consumers into paying membership fees and turning over sensitive personal and financial information by deceptively claiming it would pay their Internet access fees." Our next article, "FTC Sues to Halt Allegedly Deceptive Internet Access Fee Scam," reports on this recent FTC decision.
